Zoonie Travel is closing.
After a few years of trying to build the readership of the site, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s just not going to grow. Maybe the concept of a travel website that skewed 50+ wasn’t such a great idea. Since I’m 67 years old, I can’t compete with the most popular travel blogs that feature young men and women in bathing suits talking about the best party bars and hostels.
It has been a work of love, and I have to admit I’m a little sad and disappointed that it didn’t work out.
I really appreciate the people who read the weekly newsletter, and followed Zoonie on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I’d like to recommend a few of my favorite sites for you to read and follow.
I have always loved Rick Steves’ European travel shows and guidebooks. His site has a wealth of practical, no-nonsense information.
Adventurous Kate’s Solo Female Travel Blog. I am not young, female, or a solo traveler (most of the time), but I always find her travel blog very useful with extensive information about destinations around the world. I really enjoy her social conscience.
Barbara Weibel writes a travel blog called Hole In The Donut cultural travel. She is a good writer and her posts are very thoughtfully articulated. It’s definitely worth your time to check it out.
