This is my favorite bag.
It’s called the eBags TLS Mother Lode Weekender Convertible Junior. It’s 19.5 inches tall x 14 inches wide x 9 inches deep. (There’s a larger version that measures 22 x 14 x 9 inches.) It’s my favorite because it will fit under most airline seats if you don’t over pack, so it will allow you to fly on most of those bargain airlines without paying extra for a carry-on or a checked bag. I say most, because some airlines have very restricted under seat storage to try to force you pay more for a carry-on or a checked bag. Airlines change their luggage sizes all the time, and without notice, so check your airline’s page for the latest info.
I traveled to Panama and Peru for two weeks with just this bag. I packed it with 4 days worth of clothes (socks, underwear, t-shirts), a hat, a pair of pants, a pair of shoes, two long sleeved shirts, my shaving kit, a collapsible dual voltage kettle, a power bar, a 14″ laptop, a pair of Sony over ear headphones, and a bunch of electronics (cords, voltage converter/adapter, a power bank, mp3 player). It was overstuffed, but I managed to get it under the seat.
Briggs & Riley
My favorite luggage is made by Briggs & Riley. If you want tough luggage that will last, this is what you should buy. What I love about this company is their lifetime warranty. Whatever happens to your bag, they will fix it at no charge. I have had my carry-on for about 20 years. It is built like a tank. The only problem I’ve had with this suitcase is that I have managed to break two zippers from overstuffing. Both times, Briggs & Riley has fixed them at no charge. To me, this carry-on is worth every cent I paid for it. I don’t think I’ll ever need to replace it.
My second favorite luggage is made by TravelPro. My large suitcase has been through a lot of trips and holds up very well. The warranty isn’t quite as good as my Briggs & Riley, so I’ve given it a second place ranking.
