These are some of the best walking tours around the world.
My favorite way to see a city is to just wander around. First, I get oriented by frequently looking at map to make sure I know where I am, and where the closest metro or bus stop is located. If you do get lost, just hop in a cab to take you to where you’re staying, or to a bus or train stop. Make sure you have the name of the place you’re staying, the correct street name in the local language, and the correct street address for the cabbie. It’s always a good idea to grab a hotel business card, or have a staff member to write down the information so you can show it to someone if you get lost. Make sure you have comfortable, well broken in walking shoes. I wear Ecco slip on shoes whenever I travel. They’re my favorite walking shoe.
